Snow Holidays

Family Skiing on HolidaysYour first holiday in the snow is an unforgettable experience. Spend your day sailing down powdery slopes, taking in spectacular views as you ride the chair lifts, and embracing the crisp clear mountain air. Whether you want to ski, snowboard or toboggan there is lots of fun to be had out on the slopes. The fun doesn't stop when the sun goes down with the magical atmosphere of alpine restaurants and taverns, warm log fires, great food, drinks with friends, with family or that special someone. Compare the Ski Fields.

Although skiing itself can be tricky to learn at first, it is well worth the effort and after a couple of days you will start to feel a part of this amazing place. Children take to skiiing with seemingly no effort and are usually outskiing adults in a very short time. Adult lessons are easily accessed and the kids clubs are brilliant both for the children and for the parents. For those who are more experienced there are plenty of adventures to have with a miriad of different ski runs to explore and stunning views to discover.

Mount Hotham Alpine ResortWhile many families make it a tradition to go to their favourite snowy slope every year, more and more people are visiting the slopes for the first time - and starting their own traditions for the next generation. By far the two most popular snow fields are Perisher Blue and Thredbo. Each ski region is its own key features and thought must be given on both areas before you choose your first snow holiday.

The prime skiing period is from July to August, with the official season starting from the second weekend in June and finishing with the first weekend of October.

Perisher Blue - With 7 mountain peaks and 50 lifts, Perisher Blue is a lot flatter (355 metres verticle) than some of the other ski holiday regions. Great for families, Perisher is the largest alpine resort in Austalia with 4 resort areas and hopefully, less crowded slopes. More details: Perisher Blue

Thredbo - After celebrating it 50th birthday a few years ago Thredbo is continuing to pull a crowd. Great for families and die hard skiers too, with their longest supertrail the biggest in Australia at 5.9km. Thredbo has 14 lifts and covers a verticle distance of 672 metres. More info: Thredbo
